A little more life story…
I grew up on a small sheep farm with a blacksmith father, librarian mother, spectacular younger sister, flying squirrel, rabbit, and lots of cats and dogs. Before completing my midwifery degree, I was a preschool teacher, high school teacher, international trip leader, firefighter, ski patroller, party planner, project manager, adventure nanny, and RN. I love being outdoors, reading, dancing, cooking for a crowd, and learning new things.
On the farm, birth was a part of life. Its frequency made it no less of a miracle. As a volunteer firefighter for three years I was at the ready, at any hour, to spring into action. The farm and the fire gave me the confidence and the spark to pursue training in birth work.
Each story, family, labor, and new life teaches me something about what it means to be on this planet.
“Catcher In The Thighs” was the idea of a good friend. While I don’t aspire to be the Holden Caufield of midwives, I do love books, plays on words, and a giggle.
Yes, thank you for asking- I do have dogs!!
