GIving Back

I support the following organizations with monthly donations. Please visit their websites to learn more about the important work they are doing:

  • Arizona Community Birth Coalition: Arizona’s laws for community birth need updating and ACBC is working to increase access to safe, evidence-based care for AZ families

  • I Am You 360: If you’ve met Desiree you know why I donate. “I Am You 360 believes in empowering the whole person through a blend of holistic, unique programs, and services to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline syndrome, direct and long-term impact, reduce judicial involvement, break generational cycles, and create generational change.” Yes!

  • Tucson Abortion Support Collaborative: Lack of funds should not be a reason someone continues an unwanted pregnancy. TASC is an essential part of the access landscape in Tuscon. If you’re not in Tucson, find who your local abortion fund is and donate to them.

  • Midwives for Black Lives: Scholarships for Black student midwives

  • Kiva: international microlending. I give $5/month which distributes in $25 loans. I’ve deposited $700 total over the years but that money has done $3k in loans (272 loans in 46 countries). It’s so neat!

  • Dr.Kiona: Patreon- I love Dr.Kiona because she is getting real work done on the ground in Cuba and Ecuador and she writes about sustainable, responsible travel. Patreon is one way to support creators/helpers/artists/writers/more who are not traditionally compensated for their good works, find someone you resonate with and chip in!

Volunteering in Tucson

These are local organizations where I spend time. Whatever you love, there is an organization in town that would be go grateful for your time. Find yours!

  • Read Between the Bars: Help pack up books to send to incarcerated folks, twice a month.

  • Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists (SDMB): Help build and maintain trails

  • Tucson Off-Road Cyclists & Activists (TORCA): Help build and maintain trails- if you use the trails in Tucson, please consider helping out. While TORCA and SDMB are bike-focused, their work benefits all trail users.
